With measures of 4 × 3 km, Lake Pichola is one of the emblems of the city of Udaipur, in desert state of Rajasthan, India. Lake Pichola was built in 1362 A.D. by Banjara. This is the one of the oldest and the biggest lakes in Udaipur.
In the middle of the lake there are four small islands, the island of Jag Niwas, the island of Jag Madir, Mohan Mandir, and Arsi Villas. The first is famous for having appeared in the James Bond movies “Octopussy”, which have made good use of the Udaipur shops to sell all kinds of objects related to the film. It is occupied by a palace now transformed into a hotel accessed by boat.
To get to the shore of Lake Pichola must be accessed through one of the doors where there are some Ghats used to wash clothes. From there you can see a large part of the lake enlivened by the sound of beaten clothes to clean it.
Next to the door to access the ghats, we have the bridge that crosses the lake to take us to the less tourist part of Udaipur. From the bridge we have wonderful view of both the lake and the Palace of the City.
You can enjoy a romantic boat ride in the lake. At the time of boat ride you will get a chance to experience the ultimate view of the most historical palace and monuments of Udaipur. The Boat ride trip is one of the famous attractions of Udaipur. You can also visit all the important palace and scenic beauty of City with Aravali Mountains during your Udaipur tour.
